1) The Turbo Express.

Ingredients: 2 apples, A handful of spinach leaves, 1 slice of cucumber, 1 slice of lime, Half a celery stick, ¼ pineapple, ¼ avocado, Ice cubes.

Going To The Gym/Fitness Studio Isn’t What It Used To Be!

Do your thoughts prior to going to the gym primarily consist of?

1)  Will I do Cardio, Weight Train or a Class?
2)  Have I got my Drink, Keys, Towel and £1 for the Locker?
3)  How long will I be there Busting a Gut, Reaching My Goals and Sweating like a Fugitive On The Run?

How many times have you stepped into your Gym or Fitness Studio of Choice and shaken you head in complete Unrivalled Defeat?

Why?

Is it because your Gym of Choice suddenly became the equivalent of a Paris Catwalk showcasing more Designer Brands, Hairstyles, Hair Products, Fake Nails, Full Bodied Eyelashes and Piz Buin than Bluewater, Lakeside or The Trafford Centre?

Fashion in the Gym can for the some people be so overwhelming they Lose Focus of why they actually began the Journey along the Road to there Personal End Goal thus raising doubt as to whether going to the Gym to Workout if for them.  Fashion & Fitness are not always a Marriage Made In Heaven and below we at Campbell Nutrition would like to address some Gym Fashion Fails!

EVERY Gymnasium DOES or SHOULD have clear Health & Safety Guidelines for Patrons but when we examined the varying ends of the Suitable/Suitably/Suitability/Sensible/Sensibly Scale we found Fashion puts up a VERY noble Fight.

Ultimately Functionality, Comfort & Injury Prevention are your Tools of Choice and Keys to Fitness Success!

 

Your Chances or Fitness Success are severely Hampered with these Gym Fashion Fails.  And believe you me we’ve seen these with our Very Own Eyes.

In a moment of Madness we ourselves may’ve been Guilty of one or two of these Gym Fashion Fails

1) Snapback Caps / Beenies / Oversized Woolies.

Unless generously coated with a layer of searing Sarcasm the words ‘Nice Cap Bro‘ should never be uttered nor encouraged in the Gym, it only serves mask the monumental error of the ‘GymbecilesFashion Fail Ways.

2) Converse Trainers / Vans / Crocs / Flip Flops.

If your Gym Workout Equipment is better suited for an outdoor Basketball Court, Kids Skate or BMX Park, Shallow Lido Pool or Sand Filled Beach then for want of a better phrase, ‘YOUR NAMES NOT DOWN, YOUR NOT COMING INgo elsewhere and Knock Your Socks Off or Fill Your Boots but  ‘NOT IN THIS ESTABLISHMENT BUKO.  For the serious gym going exponent of the art ‘Sweating‘ this footwear choice should be avoided as if it were infected with an aggressive strain of the ‘Gymbecile‘ Virus.

3) Magnum P.I. / Top Gun Aviator Sunglasses.

Admittedly, some gym patrons do like the anonymity afforded them for that 60 or so minutes of ‘Me TimeGym Workout.  However, there is no Blinding Sunlight, no Red Ferrari, no Top Gun Fighter Jet and most importantly no machine that works your accompanying ‘Pouty Lips‘.  Also with a pair of Designer Aviators the thin line between Anonymity & Undercover Disguise becomes VERY blurred as does the Gymbeciles Depth Perception & Focus when Spotting his/her Gym Buddy.

4) Wolverine Fake Nails / 6 inch Eyelashes

  We do believe these items of ‘Mass Gym Destruction‘ need no explanation but here’s one anyway. If you’d prefer to have a Secure, Safe Firm & Confident grip on your chosen piece of apparatus we’d suggest ditching the nails, DO you really want a Lawsuit on your hands (no pun intended) when one of these recently applied (with substandard glue) adapted weapons ping off and takes off another patrons 6inch Eyelashes on its way to lodging itself deep into there eyeball?

5) Male Lycra Leggings Without Shorts.

Even if you’re bringing Lynford Christie’s Lunchbox to the Gym with you, Lycra Leggings on a man without a pair of shorts over the ‘Business Area‘ are and always have been a Health Risk to anyone unfortunate enough to witness them, much less the risk of a Hernia, Twisted Testicles or inadvertently taking someone’s eye out if it all gets a little too loose and Beast is Unleashed.

6) Ladies Sports Bra’s/ Crop Tops / Leggings

Purchasing the Correct Size in any of these necessary items is the key to not earning the title of ‘Fashion Failing Gymbecile‘ in this category.  A Sports Bra too small may feel secure but trust me, it only draws unwanted attention and quite frankly due to lack of Available Chest Expansion whilst breathing under heavy exercise could lead to you collapsing and passing out only to find upon waking up dazed and confused that some helpful non medically trained but keen chappy has kindly cut you clean out of your eye catching Sports Bra whilst skilfully avoiding a Lawsuit with the excuse of ‘Giving You Some Air‘.  Crop Tops give the opposite effect where you maybe more concentrated on keeping yourself in rather than worrying about our previously mentioned friend cutting you out.  Both ‘Concentration & Worry‘ detracting from you being able to ‘Focus‘ on training.  Leggings, let’s face it looking and feeling like you are about to be cut in two (not by a skilled magician in his sold out magic show either) has to take your mind away for your training Goal and therefore reduce the effectiveness of your Workout.

Let’s be ‘Supportive not Intrusive‘.

However humorous I’ve tried to make this article Gym Fashion is Serious, get it wrong and the untold irreversible damage you could cause to yourself and in some cases to others can be catastrophic.  Clothing, however fashionable in its look, and we DO all want to look In-Place, Fashionable, Good or Part of can and should also be Supportive, Protective & Functional. With these factors taken into consideration you will enjoy the Road to your Goal and your Body will Treat you Better for Longer

Get Fighting Fit Pt 1

FullSizeRender  Well it’s no secret that any Fighter in any Combat Sport isn’t in prime ‘Fight Fit Shape‘ with the killer instinct of a Great White Shark all year round.

In order for fighters whether they be Male or Female to Get Fighting Fit from what could be Off Peak training or Injury Recover they’ll undergo what is termed as there ‘Fight Camp‘.  This camp could be anything from 6-12 weeks dependant on the notice time of the fight, or present fitness, or the level at which the fight is set.

Lets face it, a Professional Fighter paid to train and compete will have a team of professionals on-hand to tailor training plans and plot weekly targets to enable that particular fighter to Get Fighting Fit and Peak just at the right moment to be the Best they can be at Fight Time.  An Amateur Fighter on the other hand, holding down a full or part-time job to make ends meet may have to share training with other amateurs, share ideas about Under-Training, Over-Training, Nutrition, Injury Prevention and plot there own preparation with limited resources hoping, praying they will be Good Enough on the day.

It’s not uncommon for any fighter Amateur or Professional to fight in a weight category that leaves them with a seemingly impossible amount of weight to lose but still remain Strong, Fit, Energised, Eager & Confident of a WIN.

Such was the case of a Campbell Nutrition customer who came to us with this dilemma!

1)  He had 10Kg of weight to lose to make his 79Kg weigh-in Weight Limit.

2)  He was signed up for a 5 round Full Contact Kickboxing Match.

At this point not too many people would see any major issues or Stumbling Blocks ahead but then came the Crunch.

3)  He only had 6 Weeks in which to achieve his Weight Limit Goal and Get Fighting Fit

Even as an amateur with all the restrictions and challenges presented to him this customer, with the help and advise given to him here at Campbell Nutrition made Weight, stayed Strong and was Highly Energised for a Hard fought 5 Round Battle which saw him come out as the WINNER by Unanimous Decision.

Getting Fit at 40

How many times have you said?

We Used To Do That When We Were Younger!

If you are 40+ and have said this more than once you need to read this.

If you’ve hit 40 with a bible full of seemingly respectable excuses and have decided the damage has already been done so your active nimble lifestyle days are a distant memory well behind you as far as exercise goes, then think again.

For some reason society has given becoming 40 the Milestone Gauge Standard Award of how our lives have been, have become, how we’ve treated our bodies, health and others (YES people) around us.  In some cases the term ‘Getting Fit At 40’ is laughed at as if it were a Mythical Unicorn, something people talk about but very few see as a REALITY or Achievable Goal.  Lifestyles, Work, Family Commitments, Finances, Location, Facilities etc are the excuses that tend to get thrown about when confronted with the possible idea or grabbing back those days we were always doing something active.

According to the British Heart Foundation, there is a direct link between getting old Healthily & Gracefully with the amount of exercise you take as you age.  Of course there the exceptions to the rule of this broadly scoped statement as in any area of life but those exceptions should be seen as Inspiration for your own Personal Goals of Getting Fit At 40 to be achieved.  For more than 8yrs the B.H.F. tracked 3,500 people with an average age of 64 and those that exercised everyday were 3 or 4 times more likely to age healthily than those who did nothing.

I’m not saying the whole country should be awash with exercise classes ranging from Yoga to Crossfit to Martial Arts to HIIT Classes to Powerlifting to Zumba filled with OAP’s.  Just some form of Light to Moderate enjoyable exercise is all that is required.

Chances are any one of you amazing people reading this now can name at least ONE Friend, Colleague, Family Member (immediate or distant), Old School Associate who has unfortunately passed before or by the age of 40 and that untimely passing can in some conversation at some point be attributed in some part to Health or Lifestyle.

The B.H.F. suggest Adults should try to be Active Daily and aim for 150 mins (2hr 30min) of varied activity to get our Lungs Expanded, Heartrate Up, Body Temperature Increased & Bloodflow Increased each week.  How this exercise is undertaken is not a formula set in stone so whether it be the Full Access Gold Level Gym Membership or just an accumulation of brisk walks instead of using the car from time to time in 10 minute spurts, as long as it fits your Needs, Lifestyle, Commitments, Physical Ability or Goal of Getting Fit At 40 it all contributes to the longer more enjoyable Life we all long for where we see our Children & Grandchildren Grow Up with us Actively participating in there Lives and maybe showing them a thing or two.

It’s Never Too Late To Get Active, but there’s no need to wait until retirement to Get Started.

Doors and Opportunities Opening Up

Working hard on the upcoming BodyPowerExpo seems to be opening doors the team didn’t think possible. We thought we were working in the background feverishly to make a successful debut at the biggest health and fitness event in Europe but the phones have been ringing for supplements advise, people saying we’ve been recommended to them and offers of partnerships. CN even had an offer to buy into the company which shows we are going along the right lines. CN will not be selling out however, we want to stay pure and deliver our original promise of service and product quality.
April was indeed a ‘Doors Opening’ month and we look to past that positivity to all our present and future customers. Stick with us as we get better each day and learn something new.
